Description:
Ruth Reinhold (1902-1985), an aviation pioneer, was one of the first woman pilots in Arizona. She marked many milestones, from barnstorming to teaching pilots to fly four-engine bombers during World War II. These images were selected from the 1200 photographs researched and collected for her book Sky Pioneering. It is a remarkable survey of aerial landscapes, pilots, aircraft, airports, landing fields, and aviation events in Arizona dating from the early 1900s through the late 1970s.
